I have an article that will be coming out exclusively on Seeking Alpha as soon as they approve it. I will post the link here and on the blog.
I finally found the time to watch The Big Short over the weekend and appreciate those who kept telling me to go watch it. I don’t know how one can take such a tragedy to many investors and turn it into a drama/comedy or dramedy, but I haven’t laughed that hard in awhile (probably because I am writing a book about illusions. In reality, I am firmly in the camp of The Big Short Part 2 coming to America, but I think it will be triggered by Europe, Japan or China at some point. You’ll see a taste of this reasoning in the Seeking Alpha article.
The ending of the movie really didn’t go into enough detail as to what length Congress and the Federal Reserve went to in “saving” the economy banks. The facts are that Congress and the Fed may actually have good intentions about passing legislation or buying troubled assets, but remember, these folks didn’t even see this crisis coming. As the movie shows, they didn’t even know it arrived when it was here. It’s easy to make the connection from what happened since the last crisis and where we are today and where we are going which I do in my book Illusions of Wealth. The timing couldn’t be better for this book to come out and it’s mostly off to the editor this week (finally) and about 2 weeks after that should be available to the public. I will let everyone know when it is available.
